There are no hard an fast rules other than thatīut an ideal logline has a lot packed into a small amt of space: genre, story synopsis, theme, conflict, character, voice, and probably moreĪ ideal of a logline could do all of that in two sentences, or oneīut if you can’t do that, you can do it in four or three, or cover most or several of the above thingsĪ great logline is hard to do but it’s worth practicing bc it hones your compression skills and quickly reveals the flaws in a story or conceptĪlso, some people never use them at all, or don’t care about them, which is also a valid point of view.
